Signs a Battery Should Not Be Reconditioned
Some battery conditions should end the DIY reconditioning discussion.
Stop conditions
Cracking, leakage, swelling, severe corrosion affecting integrity, overheating, freezing damage, known internal faults or manufacturer instructions against service are strong reasons not to attempt DIY recovery.
Reliability matters
A battery that briefly accepts charge but repeatedly fails under normal use may still be unsuitable for a reliability-critical application.
